Fedex portrays a large, mail carrying truck, with two painted trucks on the sides to show that Fedex "carries" their competitors and that no other company, in this case UPS, cannot deliver like Fedex can. The image shows that the company is hard at work, while UPS struggles to keep up and cannot produce.

Bose Headsets enhances the use of their product by proclaiming that their noise-cancelling will prevent you from hearing a loud waterfall. The guy is obviously just out casually on the boat when he travels too far. Bose is advertising that there is no noise when using their product which most people prefer.

Drinking and driving is something that needs to be stopped and advertisements attempt to do this. The photo of a parking spot reserved for a "drunk driver" set on a tree shows that only drunk drivers will park there because they cannot keep control. The ad appeals to the emotional aspect of people's minds saying that if you drink and drive, you will most likely lose control and hit a tree  hurting yourself.

Everyday Rhetoric- Clemson University

The world is full of rhetoric in our everyday lifestyles. A person sees rhetoric in every activity they do, whether it be in a television ad or in the newspaper, they are used to portray something that the writer wants the audience (us) to see. College brings a lot of new things into your life including harder work, more freedom, and a larger social life. How I arrived at Clemson University was an interesting one and it involved some pretty tough decisions. Every college uses rhetoric in advertisements to try and increase the percentage of students who apply to the school. In an ad I saw about Clemson, the University uses Dabo Swinney, head football coach, to talk about the many great qualities of Clemson. The advertisement has football players, which attracts many sports lovers. Also, there are some great shots of the campus to show its beauty. The video contains rhetoric in the way that Clemson (author) wants to convince students (audience) that Clemson will help you become great in the world. A copy of the video is shown below.
Notice how Dabo discusses all of the students at Clemson as excellent scholars who will “transform” into intelligent human beings because of their attitudes and their efforts at Clemson. I did not see this video when I was applying to Clemson or when I was deciding between colleges. I saw it one day on YouTube and the university sponsored it. This means that they were using rhetoric to convince students that Clemson values academics and athletics. Most of your everyday students find these important to them. I found that Clemson was right for me in many reasons even though I did not see this advertisement. I found it funny that even the University that is special to all of us uses rhetoric in many ways.
